Dear Pan Am veterans and fans,
The former N727PA "Clipper Belle of the Sky", 747-212B, in service with Pan Am 1984-1991, is currently undergoing renovation to become the world's first 747 hotel in Stockholm, Sweden.
The aircraft was grounded in 2002 when its last operator Transjet Airways' certificate was revoked by the authorities. It has since been resting at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport.
Last week, it was towed to its permanent resting place landside at the airport where it is currently being rebuilt with 25 three-bed rooms as the world's first "Jumbo Hostel".
It will be a cheap way for travellers and aviation enthusiasts to sleep at the airport and we will retain as much of the airline atmosphere as possible such as placards and other memorabilia.
I am currently writing the history of this aircraft and the 747's impact on world travel for a brochure to be given away to all guests.
Can anyone help with photographs of N727PA, or personal memories from this aircraft?
You can read more about this project at http://www.jumbohostel.com/#&mn1=5304 and feel free to contact me if you want to know more.
Sincerely
Hans Jakobsson
