: Can anyone help me out to where this big jet
: Clipper BLACK SEA might be today and was she
: used as a charter flight back in the early
: or late seventies when the grounding of the
: DC-10 jets world wide happened after the
: chicargo crash for Qantas or AIR N,Z at all
: I know the Kiwi airline only operated
: DC-10-30 DC-8-52 jets back then. Thank you
:
: Regards
: Liam Taj
:
: Hi Liam i can help you a little with our PAA
: ladie N743PA. Unfortunaley she is now
: scrapped her last operator was TOWER AIR who
: aquired her after the demise of PAN AM.
: N743PA was named Clipper Derby and entered
: service with PAN AM in 1970. Her c/n was
: 19650/24 while she was in service with PAN
: AM she was leased for six months in the
: early seventies to American Airlines then
: she was returned repainted to her PAN AM
: colour scheme she was then renamed Clipper
: Black sea. When she bacame a Tower Air jet
: her rego then was N617FF now this ex PAA
: rego belongs to another airline operating
: with this rego.
:
: In 1979 after a few bad accidents with the
: DC-10 jets and the groundings PAN AM was put
: into red alert action for airlines stranded
: who used the DC-10 jets. Air New Zealand did
: charter a PAN AM 747-123 jet but this wasn't
: N743PA this was the regular jet on this long
: haul Pacific route Called Clipper Neptunes
: Car now also scrapped at Marina Pinal Park
: N742PA C/N 196491/18 which was the sister
: aircraft to N743PA. Qantas had there own
: fleet of 747-238 jets. I can say there were
: many charter flights made by PAN AM from
: airlines around the world and some of our
: 747's 747sp jets L1011'A were pulled from
: maintance to be used to cover the stranded
: airliners with passengers. At that time Liam
: PAN AM was put to it's limits but helped
: other airliners as well as managing there
: own daily flights without disruptions or
: flight cancellations. I hope this info helps
: you out. Than you

: SAY HELLO TO PAN AM
:
:
:
: Hi Mark Willie Liam i have read your comments I don't know how for up to date you are with PAN AM data of stored Aircraft or scrapped aircraft. But N743PA 747-123 EX PAN AMERICAN JET dosen't exsit no longer it's not classified as stored it's showing as scrapped. It was dismantled and parted out and the remaing hulk was to become Coke cans like her sister jet Clipper Crest of the wave. N748PA 747-121 JET. So i hope this helps you out. Wllie Singh your right about the groundings of the DC-10 jets how could we not forget that time. Another point to take up which you forgot to mention was your kiwi airline back then Air NZ which i hope you haven't converted over to Qantas the way they are at the moment. After the groundings a few months after that AIR NZ lost a young DC-10-30 jet on the lower slopes of Mt Erebus in the Antarica 13.30pm GMT or NZ time Wednesday 28th Nov 1979 rego ZK-NZP a five year old aircraft well looked after but sadly written off because of human error not the aircraft itself as the airline tried to cover it up by saying it was a ill fated aircraft. That sparkling green & blue bird had past its A&B checks with flying colours and that was proven by the investigators. The wrong flight path was put into the computer sending it into the mountain. Yet the chicargo incident before the groundings was of course human error to blame not so much the plane. AMERICAN AIRLINES treated there DC10'S like dirt and flew them by cheap maintance. Well what goes around comes back around and they sure learnt there lessons' not to play with such a wide bodied jet so advanced and they killed those inocent people. Turkish Airlines who sent there DC-10 jet into the forest outside of Paris in 1974 an employee was to blame for not closing the cargo door properly after intense investigations Turkish Airlines was hauled over the coals for those deaths and causing a wide bodied jet to crash. It wasn't theaircraft's fault most of these DC10 failures or errors were to blame from the companies them selves. Fansy using forklifts to lift up a large CF6 50C high by pass turbo fan engine from its wing area or pylon's after MC DONALD DOUGLAS CORPERATION at that time stated in the flight manuals of all DC10 jets not to use any type of forklifts what so ever to detach the engines from there mounts.I admire the DC10 jet but it's name was tarnished because of the poor maintance from the operators.. Thank you
