DC-4 Flights - 1949

I was a firefighter stationed at Tulln AFB near Vienna in 1949-52. I remember a PanAm DC-4 overshot our runway and was stuck in the muddy terrain for some time. It was located in the Russian Zone of Austria and we had a hard time getting the aircraft back onto the base runway. If I'm not mistaken a USO troupe consisting of Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl, Ernest Tubb and others from the Grand Old Opry were aboard. Does anyone remember this incident? I would like to correspond with anyone about this incident. It was at 21:30 hours on the night of 2 December 1949. Best regards. Pete Semanick Retired air force firefighter
