: Can some one please update me on PAA data to
: how many 727-100 jets were in the PAN AM
: fleet and how many 727-200 jets were also in
: the PAA fleet was there a mixture of these
: jets and did any of them fly internationally
: at all even on charter flights. Thank you

: My family and I flew Pan Am 727's from Miami
: to the Carribbean many times throughout the
: 80's. Technically that's international but
: I'm not sure if you mean an ocean crossing
: voyage...

: Hi Pijat & Garret yes our PAN AM did use the
longer range 727-200 jets internationally
before the introduction of the jumbo jets
and other wider bodied aircraft. In the early
years in 1960's we flew them to Guam Hawaii
Paris, London until they were replaced by the
much larger scale DC-8'S 707'S L1011 DC-10
jets in the later years. A few were used as
troop carriers for the USAF on charter flights
to Veitnam. Willie singh would help you out
with this one if need be. All together we had
a 727 fleet of 140 aircraft a mixture the 727
100 was a smaller scale jet designed for the
internal domestic routes and more capable of
getting into those smaller airports where as
the larger jets couldn't touch down in small
county area's. In the end as PAN AM collapsed
the 727 were sent to the storage area's and
broken up or parted out. some were left totally
stripped and looking very sad indeed. I hope
this info helps you out. Thanlk you
