: Hi Piro i see you have a few comments on the board about our PAN AM . The answer to your QST
on the Tristar jets L1011-500 was when PAN AM
purchased them in 1981 they were economical to
run just as the DC-10 Tri jets. they were very
identical however the future of these wide body
jets wern't certain meaning cost cutting on many
domestic & international services. Most of the
L1011 & DC-10 jets are know in storage or broken
up for parts a few Tristar's remain active to
date with the Royal Airforce and the DC-10 a/c
two remain active ib service with FEDEX cargo.
they will soon be retired and scrapped.
The last L1011 Tristar left the PAN AM fleet in
1986 as it was sold off to Delta Airlines with
the rego N511PA Clipper Black Hawk. We had a few
aircraft types with this clipper name such as
OUR LITTLE 747SP21 JET N534PA which is now in
storage at Mojov and boken up. Also a 707 jet
had this name. I will post this later for you.
Most of the PAN AM fleet over the years had
name changes or different rego's or aircraft
types which was duely to replace retired
aircraft from the fleet as the years went on.
Thank you.
