Hello there PANAMAIRS and former staff of PAN AM who visit this site daily. I use to love this extrodairy airline of exllence and can i say it was a pleasure being on board PAN AM flights and getting to meet the cabin crew and pilot on some domestic and international flights I travelled on. My queiry relates back to the sale of the PAN AM 747 aircraft and DC-10 jets beofore the fall of PAN AM .Why on earth did PAN M sell out its Pacific routes and Asia routes including 747sp jets and the 747s and DC-10 jets. I think this was the wrong move which could have save the airline by cutting back its fleet by storing jets and dis continuing small non profitable routes in the PAN AM domestic area. I felt the biggest impact would have being on the trans Atlantic routes JFK/LDN PAN AM were making ground on the long haul Pacific routes which would have benefit the airline. Another great way would have being to axe this PAN AM frequent flyer programe or suspend it until the airline gained ground. Frequent flyer programs cost millions and can cost the airline or even send it hurtling towards the ground if its not carefully looked at. This is one of the main reasons behined the collapse of such a great airline. Yet looking at the date of sales or aircraft disposals wern't paid out properly after UAL got hold of alot of the jets then they disposed of them a few years after the collapse of PAN AM. Obvously the PAN AM management didn;t care and they are most to blame for the financial burden and the collapse of PAN AM If they would have looked into restructuring they would be sill around today. Any comments please put them on this board. Many thanks
Petre Watts
