Hello everyone,
What aircraft was Pan Am flying from Auckland, NZ to San Fran, CA in October 1946?
My Mum, an Australian war bride, emigrated to the USA in October 1946 from Australia. As she remembers her journey, Pan Am was not flying from Sydney, Australia. She remembers flying in a flying boat from Sydney Harbor to Auckland, possibly operated by QANTAS. Then, she flew Pan Am from NZ to USA. She can't quite remember the stops across the Pacific, and now from time to time her story gets confused, but she does remember stopping along the way from NZ to USA. This was the first ever flying she had ever done!
Once she arrived in San Fran, she traveled by train to Philadelphia where she met up with my Dad. They had met in January 1944 in Sydney while he was serving as an American GI in the South Pacific. They were happily married from Nov 46 until Feb 92 when my Dad passed away.
Any info you all can share with me will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks & Cheers,
Rich
Vancouver, WA, USA
