Hieveryone as an employee of boeing we produced the almighty 747-121 which made all pan am 747's How ever this particular 747 CLIPPER OCEAN SPRAY N744PA which was used a a troop carrier in the gulf wars was another proto type test jet for Boeing and was on the drawing board only to be used a a test jet at Boeing but being the demarnd for this aircraft and its popularity many years ago even today the jet was sold to PAN AM as N744PA. Today marks her madien flight era PAN AM used her on a non stop service from London to AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND which would have beaten the perivous record breaking attempt by a PAN AM short version jumbo called the 747sp jet. This 747-121 did make the record crossing in 12 hours and 23 mins where it touch down in Auckland five hours later and was meet by Boeing & PAN AMERICAN staff and our Kiwi friends where the home of AIR NEW ZEALAND hub is. Clipper Kit Carlson was also there on a pacific flight from LAX/AKL/SYD PA812 flight. This jumbo was also one of the very first 747's to arrive in Sydney. I found in Boeing achives and PAN AM data base. This is another mile stone in aviation era for the 747 jets as well as an all American airline Boiengs first customer. Thank you
Did you know the new 747-800 & 747-400 jets are actually the mould of the original 747-100 jets?? well if nobody notice this its true these are freighter jets only. But there more advanced updated.
