I recently bought a house that has four good sized Mexican fan palms growing up next to the house. They all are growing from the same root system. In addition, there are approximately 20 small palms growing out of the base of the larger palms. Is there any way to divide out the small palms so that I can transplant them or do I risk damaging the larger palms? I think that the root system is the same for all of the palms.
