I have a beautiful triangle palm that
was planted in the ground inside a
birdcage screen enclosure. After 5
years it has grown to push against the
roof of the 15' birdcage. The base of
the tree is about 5' and each new
leaf reaches the ceiling before it unfolds.
Right now the leaf folds over when it
hits to ceiling before it opens. My
concern is that it will outgrow the space
or push out the mesh panel in the screen.
When I originally planted it the nursery told
me that the plant would sense when it
grew up to the roof of the enclosure and stop, but that hasn't happened yet. Does anyone know if this is true? Should I
transplant it? If I should transplant it,
how deep is the root system? Any help
would be appreciated.
