I have some Washingtonia hybrids that i got at Wal-Mart for 13 bucks 5 years ago and they have grown a lot too. Just trim off the dead fronds close to the trunk. It's basically that simple. I have trimmed mine numerous times over the years, i can't imagine what yours look like! You will be pleased with the results of a good grooming. Good luck.
