I moved to CA less than a year ago from frosty MN - the home I purchased has several mature palms - not sure which type/species (>15 ft) and a few sego palms - all of which I am new to (a far cry from the native pine trees I grew up with). Two of the tall palms and one sego have what appears to be "a baby" (mini palm) growing at an angle from the base of their respective trunks. I'm concerned this is jeopardizing the stability of their mothers.. I have googled the subject but after an hour of selecting links - have still not been able to find an article on if these should be left to grow - or removed (and if the latter - the proper method). Any help / leads to info would be much appreciated - don't want it to ruin a beautiful tree (if it's not already too late). Thank you palm gurus!
