Kathy, what I do is water thoroughly,but not enough that would cause alot of water to settle in the pots tray underneath.If its not too heavy, you can empty the tray after watering or even soak up excess runoff with a towel.
Allow soil to dry out before watering again.
During winter inside, water less than if potted outside during summer.Too much watering during winters slow growth will cause root rot. Robusta's are drought tolerant,so better to under water, than over water when in pots. They will recover and take off when you get them in the ground next spring.
