I live outside of Austin. I and several of my relatives have silver queen palm trees we purchased from the Home Depot at Lakeway (a small community near Austin). We had a major ice storm here in January. All of our Silver Queens lived through about 72 hours below freezing (sometimes considerably below) We have had some temperatures in outlying areas in the low 20's to teens. My Silver Queens are fine.
: Does anyone know of anyone who sells
: "RELIABLE" Silver Queen or
: Butia Bonetti (Var Odorata) seeds. If
: so, how reliable are their sources?
:
: I live in Homestead, FL, where there
: are many nurseries gowing the Silver
: Queen.
: Unfortunately, I have personally spoken
: with more then 10 separate nusery
: owners
: about the Silver Queen regarding their
: source for seeds. All were not sure
: and
: got their seeds from other local
: nurserymen. Since both palms look very
: similar
: and since there is so much diversity in
: the palm, I get the feeling that I am
: being hoodwinked.
:
: I will be relocating to Austin, TX and
: want to continue my extensive palm
: garden
: and am having a difficult time
: authenticating sources of Silver Queens
: and Butia
: Bonetti.
:
: Ortanique sells the Siver Queen. Do
: you know the owner and how reliable
: (authentic sources of seeds)is this
: company?
:
: Rarepalms.com sells the Butia Bonetti
: (Var Odorata). Do you know the owner
: and how reliable (authentic sources of
: seeds)is this company?
:
: Can you help or guide me in the right
: direction
: Thank you.
