Trent...Sorry to hear about the double whammy of your arm and loosing your deer hunting spot. Both are magnum bummers! The latter is a problem in my area since outdoor magazines have portrayed Illinois as having a big buck behind every tree, resulting in five outfitters within 15 by from non-residents. In my 40+ trips to the deer woods last year, I didn't see a wall hanger. Guess I just didn't look behind the right trees!
Can you legally hunt with a handgun on some public ground as a possible way of taking a deer? If so, maybe your Boy Scouts could help you with it. That should be at least equal to helping a little ol' lady across the street! A couple of seasons ago, I broke my ankle and was hobbling through the woods on crutches, took a decent buck, and had to call some of my buddies to help me with it. I was only about 50 yards from the truck in a place I'd never have been hunting had I been healthy. Go figure!
Anyway, I'll do my best to bust at least a good doe on your behalf using a flintlock in the process. Any particular caliber you want me to use? Pick one I don't have so that I can approach my wife as a "mission of mercy" project. Tom
