One thing concerns me about Barr's LP run - it was only a few years ago he was specifically targeted by the Georgia LP and lost his congressional seat as a result. Is his new-found support of the LP sincere or nefarious? I honestly don't know.
Barr had traditionally been in agreement with LP principles about 80 - 90% of the time. But Carl, I think you're aware of the LP "true believers" who drive the party and advocate, "If you ain't 100% you ain't sh*t." Barr was targetted because of his poisition on a single issue - medical marijuana. I personally disapproved of the Georgia LP's decision at the time, but neither lived in Georgia nor was formally associated with the LP anymore by that time.
How well do we know Barr, and how much do we trust him? I know those are questions we should ask of any politician, but especially in this case given the history of the participants.
Call me old and cynical, but they're questions I have to raise.
