My grandpap used to run a little grocery during the depression and up to about 1947. He kept a large stash of old coins including some gold coins that he didn't turn back in to the goobermint in 1933 when FDR recalled all of them. As kids he used to give my brother and me silver dollars for gifts. I still have them, some going back to the late 1870's, most of them Morgans graded VF-20 including a couple of Carson City ones. We didn't find the gold coins until he died in 1959. We also have some of the old gold certificates from before 1933. They're all safely put away in a safe deposit box.
