Well, you are correct that the 1923 Silver dollar has little to no numismatic value and that it does have value in silver. $13. sounds about right because there is not a troy ounce of silver in a silver dollar. But additionally, four quarters or ten dimes that predate 1965 if you find any or have any) have MORE value than that silver dollar.
Again, copper is at about $3.80 a pound and about 180 pennies that predate 1982 is about a pound of copper. More than twice the value of a penny.
It's pathetic that our currency has been so reduced in value that we are thinking this way.
