My wife works part-time at a K-mart, and a woman came in today to buy a phone card so her jailbird boyfriend can call her. She was a little short of cash I guess, so she used a 1923 silver dollar to pay for part of it , AT FACE VALUE!!!
As a collector, it's not that great of a coin, but I think it's current silver value is about $13. As I told my son as I showed it to him, there's education, and then there's what you learn in school. I have a hunch this woman has neither.
I kind of hope her boyfriend is in jail for awhile yet.
