The zinc brute was crestfallen, icy blue eyes on the ground as he walked. A bright white bundle of fur dangled from his mouth, a pup he was holding gently by the scruff. Zebbidiah's normally cheerful and placid nature seemed to shatter around his mind right now. He'd been doing well to avoid his mother and father at the moment, not wanting their opions just yet. The pup dangling from his maw was very young, young enough where she should not have been weaned. However, the brute was compensating for that bye pre-chewing her food and skillfully stealing milk pales from a nearby farm for her to drink from. He would not lose her, by god... he would not.
He thought he'd found love in Vanity. She was beautiful, enchanting even. The zinc brute had spent many weeks with her, and even now it was a hazy mess of pleasure and fun in his memories. He could still see ehr smile, the black lips contrasting deeply with her white fur. And her eyes, two emeralds outlined in black. She was gorgeous. Perhaps that was why Zebbidiah had been blinded so easily. And just when he'd thought he was over Nyra...
Of course, she'd blamed him for ruining her life when she found out she was pregnant. She'd yelled at him, slashed at him with her black and white striped paws.. Such words she used on him. He thought she'd be happy about the pups. After all, she had a part in them too. But no, throughout VAnity's pregnancy, she was there to remind Zebbidiah that he owed her and her children. And then! Only a few weeks after the pups were born, she'd taken off with one and just disappeared. She'd tried to take the other as well, but Syn refused, hiding behind the brute while he pleaded for her to stay. But she'd left him, picking up the pup she'd named Murder and just leaving.
She'd named them, all three. Murder, Syn, and the stillborn Sine. The more Zeb thought about his daughters, the more tears threatened to well up in his icy blue eyes. She'd named them just so he'd know she regretted having them, giving them names he thought were unsuitable. And.. for the stillborn pup Sine, she had wanted to simply leave the pup at the birthing grounds. The brute absolutely refused to leave the body of his dead daughter laying in some clearing for carryon to eat, and so took her to bury at Traydon River himself. He'd returned often with Syn to give him some quiet time to thing... Sometimes he thought he'd imagined her pale body and eyes looking back at him through the rapids. However, he'd come to believe it was his disturbed mind playing tricks on him.
Zebbidiah stopped, sensing someone was near. It was that prickly feeling, the one that made your hair stand on end. He had it better atuned than most. Looking up his icy blue eyes landed on a large black brute. At first he'd almost thought it was his father, Taboo, but quickly found that to be a mistake. Picking up his paces a little faster, he approached the brute, carefully setting Syn down on the ground. "Hello, Uncle Black," he said, forcing a smile on his face. "Haven't seen you in a long time."
The white pup stood up on silver striped legs that barely contrasted with her white body. Looking up to the two brutes with light, frosty green eyes, Syn took a step backwards, tripping over her own feet and falling down. She got back up and scurried to hide behind her father, thought there was hardly a need seeing as the grass hid the young pup easily. She looked out from behind her father's leg at the stranger, pale gray nose twitching to get his smell. Zebbidiah watched her and chuckled despite his foul mood. "This is Syn, my daughter," he said, still looking at the small pup fondly.
