It has never been about the horses. Horseracing evidently has a dark underbelly to it. I remember someone told me they are letting horses that are too young race in these races and they push them to their limit. Their legs are too thin at such a young age and they break many times. And as we saw with Barbaro, horses cannot survive on 3 legs. The remaining 3 legs are too stressed by holding up the weight of the horse that they start developing problems themselves. The hospital that Barbaro was at was in Pennsylvania and one of the best equine hospitals in the world, but even they could not save Barbaro. Sad.
