Posted by spiff I've got a PC I'm happy with, a Roland MK somethingorother MIDI controller keyboard, messed around with Logic. I'm coming to this from a background in Impulse Tracker, oldschool DOS days. Anyway, while I've been dicking around, my brother's managed to learn himself the guitar pretty well. So well, that he's recorded some basic stuff on Cakewalk, and I really like the direction he's taking. So I want to spend my resources on a setup that'll help us both out.. help me sequence the dnb or #### around with the odd noise I've become interested in lately. But I also want to be able to have him come over, hook in his guitar, and just jam with me messing around on effects all dubby like. Most anything can be done in software these days, I figure, but it's always nicer to have hardware to get a "feel" for it. Since I'm just starting out, though, I don't think this is too important for me. I'm thinking perhaps a MIDI controller with a bit more knobs maybe? Then next perhaps some decent studio monitors... then from there I'm completely lost. Anyway, any advice anyone has would be appreciated. I'm more than willing to kickstart this place back up (I too lurked and occasionally posted in the 99-02 era) if anyone else is.

I'll make it really easy by asking a pretty typical newbie question, too. I'm finally out of college and have a job, woohoo. This means I can start actually setting something up. So where do I go... hmmmm.
