recording in soundforge 5..

i'm trying to record a set from my mixer in soundforge. i need info starting from scratch. i have an rca from the monitor output in my pioneer djm 500 mixer to the line in in my soundblaster live drive. nothing's muted except for my mic and there's no signal in the record window in soundforge. am i running the cable incorrectly? is there adjustments i have to make in my soundforge or windows preferences?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
