internal is always going to be faster. WD drives are too "fragile" for my tastes as 2 instances in the past year have been one being defect to shield and had it's controller blown -some smoke too! The other just killed a pc's motherboard (crazy?) -or so the "techs" said. only if your doing alot of recording or storage of audio/other data ony the comp-then use the internal- of course faster is better- but not really a matter here if a 7200rpm ide drive isn't an option.peace all.
