Posted by ClaytontheChemist There is an open-box dual 1.25 with the superdrive at maczone.com for $2300 You can also find reconditioned dual 1.25s for $2200 at macwarehouse.com, and on the apple store if you search for "power cord". 49 to send a VST/Audio Instrument channel's DSP permanently to the 2nd CPU, just put an I/O plug in on the channel (from the Logic/helper location), select any audio output in the helper plug (channel 1,2 or whatever), then select 'bypass' at the top (or option-click on the plug in the channel). now, all that channel's DSP (and all DSP of any bus it is sending to) will always be processed by the 2nd CPU - regardless of whether the channel is selected or not. tried it in 5.5 on both 9 and X and 5.3 on X (easier to see it work, since 5.3 on X still had the two meters for the CPUs in System Performance). apparently it works on any channel, but i've only tried it on AIs. now, a dual mac is truly a dual for logic. use that second processor as you please. I'm about to buy one of the discontinued dual 1.25 G4s. The best deal I could find for a new discontinued model is through apple's education discount, and with a DVD/CDRW drive rather then the superdrive for $2209.
As for the dual processor capability in OS9, he's pretty-much right, but there's a trick in Logic in which you can have audio channel's or audio instrument's processing forced onto the other processor with the trick below:
