You know there's going to be predictably unpredictable things happen, so you're not really shocked or surprised. You know that there is a hidden "big bad" who isn't revealed until after the half-way point, and you know there is a good guy mole working for the big bad. Throw in a couple of smoldering romances or love triangles, a non-traditional hero-nerd, and that's basically it. Oh yeah. And there is usually a terrorist plot. Almost forgot that.
