he's taken over teams that were gloriously successful, and largely maintained or, in ISU's case, slightly regressed. and these past 2 years he's had NBA talent on senior-heavy teams.
now, being worse than fred hoiberg can be said about a lot of really good coaches. but can we assume he's about the same as billy kennedy? if so, kennedy has been 51-57 in the SEC/Big XII since leaving murray state.
as a recruiter, he doesn't look like much.
that said, the resume with holtmann looks comparable, with holtmann having a bit of an edge because he built GW. recruiting-wise, they seem similar, but i give holtmann some bonus points because 1) i think joey brunk is going to be a player, and 2) he found a real diamond in the rough in kamar baldwin.
other than that, subjectively i like holtmann's style of play better, and building an efficient offense around roosevelt jones is no small feat.
