Winchester`s 000 buck is .360 in diameter and weighs about 71 grains each. On average that is three round balls hitting the target with as much energy as a standard .38 special and in my opinion that`s enough to take down anybody providing they`re not wearinging body armor.

Why I train at short distances...
In the real world most gunfights are going to happen in about 20 feet or less and the average living room is about 18` x 24` and If my Math is correct that`s about 21` for an average distance from the front door to the hall or next room....
I don`t hunt so HD is my priority and that is why I practice from 21`. A little movie triva that I admire is from Mel Gibson`s "The Patriot", he tells the boys to "aim small, miss small", that means if you aim at a man and miss, you miss the man but if you aim at a small spot on the center of the man and miss, you still hit the man.
I like to use Birchwood Casey`s Dirty Bird 8" bull's eye targets...I figure that if I can can consistantly pull and hit the center of an 8" target at 21`, I think I can eliminate most any threat.
"Double Tap Center Mass" is sound advise and this will nearly always allow for follow up shots...But so many individuals wearing body armour these days I`m starting to think that X does mark the spot...top of the chest, the thoat and of course the head...these are enough to incapacitate or kill.
