My friend is a horror movie buff and a few years ag o I told him, "I'm going to be alone for the weekend, give me some films that will scare the crap out of me." Maniac was one of the ones he gave me. The thing about the director's commentary is that it completely eliminates the sense of fear and horror in the film. Hearing the director and special effects guy laugh and joke about how much fun they had making each scene really opened me up to the world of horror movie-making. I'm totally fascinated now!
