Hmmm... Anders may be right. I'm certainly less sure now.
Yeah, this sort of dissection is loads of fun. I hope there's more in the future, especially involving chords--there I'm on surer footing.
p.s. The point that if a rhythm is hard to get your ear around it's a sign that you're parsing it wrong it is a good one. I can nevertheless think of a few counterexamples. Here's a good one: Check out this cover of Djavan's song "Sina" by Caetano Veloso. I've been listening to this song for almost twenty years now, and I still can't hear it the "right" way. I'll let you all figure out what that right way is. If you want help, it's slightly easier to hear in the original.
