Yeah, MySpace does suck, but I sorta want to fight this on moral grounds. Through friends in high(er) places, I found the email address of a MySpace employee who deals with issues like this. I think I'll write him a courteous letter asking him who makes these decisions and why this particular decision was made in this case.
What bothers me so much is that this band hasn't even been around a year, while I've been using the name (and URL) for almost five. It bothers me that MySpace feels they can judge the legitimacy of an act simply based on a third-party claim, especially when that party is the party that wants use of the URL in question!
