I realized today that one of my URLs had been swiped from under my nose. Without my consent, MySpace took one of my URLs and granted its use to another party. Apparently, they reserve the legal right to do so (as per their TOS): "MySpace reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reassign or rename your profile URL." This is ridiculous!
I wonder if Facebook or any of these other companies reserve similar rights? Regardless, be wary! I'm looking into my legal rights to reclaim the name. The band who has it now had contacted me back in January, with a threatening email, insisting that I give them the name because they had "copyrighted it". I told them I wasn't going to give it to them and I guess they contacted MySpace and somehow convinced MySpace to grant them use of the name.
Anyone have any legal insight in the meantime?
