Yeah I also heard the author of the Wired article on NPR--I've been following this story for a couple of years--people do have their hearts in the right place (I think) but there's a lot of bad science that gets spread around especially with the internet--and with stuff like this people's emotions get pretty caught up in it (in the interview she talked about how she received all kinds of threats after she wrote the article).
Certainly everyone remembers the tobacco companies claiming they had research that showed that tobacco was not bad for you, and so some skepticism is natural and necessary. But there is such a thing as scientific evidence, whether its about global warming, what causes AIDS, or vaccinations. And this autism thing doesn't play, as far as I can tell.
Its like how approx. half of the people in the US don't "believe" in evolution.
