If you play them on decent equipment (for me thats Harmon Kardon/Paradigm--low end audiophile) there's a huge difference (Ive got the Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, and Sgt Pepper stereo versions so far). But I can even hear it in my car. More separation, clearer highs and lows, more detail in a lot of places, and a much fuller, more three-dimensional bass sound. The mono set is the grail, especially for the older albums, but that will have to wait until I have money.
Those looking for "bonus tracks" can always buy the "Anthology" CDs. But as Ben points out, the Beatles are not exactly the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, or Jimi Hendrix when it comes to outtakes.
Be nice if other labels would do this with other important bands (Stones!) but it will never happen because nobody cares about other band's albums quite the way people care about these. Plus the boatloads of money everybody is making on these helps (I think all 15 of the stereo reissues made the top 100 album charts last week).
