Hello: This is Karen, Jerry's wife. I thank you for your condolences and thank others who have sent theirs. Jerry did indeed work very hard for the OBC. Even though he had a very bad back he hauled, setup and ran the sound for all the shows. He hosted this website free of charge. And totally supported this club. That is why I was deeply hurt when I discovered that Common Tyme was not allowed to pay tribute to him like they would have liked to. I do want to thank our friends of High Ground for allowing Common Tyme a little of their time. Jerry and I made many very good friends through bluegrass. He loved this music and the guys in his band. I love you guys and thank you for your support.
: I'm sad to say that Jerry Howland,
: banjo picker & founder of
: "Common Tyme" has passed.
: I'm even sadder because I didn't find
: out until this morning. My sincere
: condolences to all that knew him. I
: didn't get real close to him, but I
: liked him the very first time I
: talked to him. He was a good man and
: great banjo picker. Jerry, you will
: be missed.
