Would Unsworth have even got an interview if he was unknown to Darren Royle? Should be the best man for the job.
Knowing him well is even more reason to know what the bloke was capable of. He will never make a manager and very poor judgement to appoint him in the first place.
It's quite clear changing managers mid season wont work, yet you suggest it again next season if things don't start off well.
Any new manager coming in mid season will be lumbered with players he hasn't signed or may not want.
Any new manager should have the close season to assemble his team and then given the whole season. In the event that would have made no difference with Unsworth.
If Mellon starts next season then he should finish it although I think your thought of giving him to October and get rid if not doing well is more likely, based on past experience with Darren Royle.
A recipe for no progress.
