The same fans applaud them when they are doing well. They pay their money and what they see is a poor team, run by a manager that isn't and appears not to be able to get them to do the basics.
His tactics appear to be not to lose a game. One win in 12 games isn't good enough by anybody's standard. That's a quarter of the season! two months and two days since we last won.
People are entitled to voice their views.
Because it's football people lose sight of the fact that it's a job. They are paying for a product. If Oldham Athletic were a care that didn't function correctly for three months of the year, the customer would be demanding to speak t the manager. Mellon is not producing what is paid to produce. And somehow his workforce aren't either. Be it due to him and his management or themselves simply not being good enough.
Which is it? I don't know, but they did it for Thommo. With Unsworth's team. So what does that leave? And they turned it on against Chesterfield. Other than that it's been the same old, same old since January.
There are always going to be those for whom too much is never enough. But it seems the team just aren't doing what they should.
As lj says, Mellon has already started to deflect the blame and suggest that given the money, he can put together a winning team. His buys so far say otherwise.
As for the away fans. Hero's to a man, woman or whatever they chose to identify as.
Next season starts today.
