Hi David:
I am an RN in Arizona working on an Independent Contract at the facility that I have been employed at for the past 5 years (currently prn status). I have presented a contract packet to the ADON and in the first meeting we agreed that we would meet again in a month so he had time to review the packet and I had time to provide him more evidence "That it is legal? and why should they accept it? We meet next Monday. I have spoken to the Board of Nursing and Pat Bemis NNBA and the only conclusion that I can reach is that as long as you are working under the supervision of a physician and paying all of your own taxes within the guidelines - you are just like any other registry out there - only you are a one person registry. Is there anything you can provide me with preferably documented, that I can present to my ADON to ensure him that it is basically the same as out sourcing for RNs and I guess what would really be helpfull is "From a facility standpoint and liability" and "What the greatest benefit to them is" (I have provided him my malpractice policy as well as certifications, competencies, etc.
Any information you can share would be very helpful, Pat mentioned your name and company so I look forward to conversing with you and maybe even meeting you at the National Meeting later this year. Again, thanks for your time and have a great day! Karen K. RN in AZ
