Here's a study showing CDH13 related to malaria. Since malaria is thought to relate to the Out of Africa migration, it adds interest to the CDH13 as an N gene.
With a broad brush (the only kind I keep in my tool kit), one could say that N types were less likely to be killed by malaria. Further non-N types were more likely to migrate.
Other genes related to malaria include sickle cell gene, glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase gene and the ABO blood group genes. These make sense as being very directed linked to the actual rbc. But CDH13 may mark a group of people based on personality.
