Using 5HTT short allele as a candidate gene for Perfectionism and looking at China, a country with the world's highest frequency of 5HTT short allele, as the most likely candidate for world leadership as the future unfolds, we may wonder if Perfectionism offers a selective advantage.
It appears to me that non-Perfectionism offers much in the way of short term advantage for survival; that is, if one has fewer limitations and anxieties, one would appear to be more able to cope with life. But it may be that Perfectionism offers more advantages for the long term since it would encourage repetition and order, two very important principles for a life well lived.
One of the biggest objections to the accuracy of NPA theory is that Perfectionism does not belong to only some people but can be an intrinsic drive of anyone who choose it to be.
But, in any event, If one does not have Perfectionism trait, one can still benefit from Perfectionism principles. Perfectionism principles underlile institutions of civilization: education, technology, agriculture, manufacturing, government and religion.
