Here we see that COMT met, a candidate gene for Submissiveness trait, when compared with COMT val shows poorer working memory under stressful emotional states.
This seems consistent with NPA theory's assertion that Submissiveness trait (A-) is related to more fragile emotional structure in personality and behavior. Many individuals say that they perform better under stress or under duress or when facing a deadline. These individuals would usually not be individuals with Submissiveness trait.
