The alternate theory is a gene that persisted from bi sexual men who convinced the hunters that they were safe and snuck sex. Similar to the evolution of dark triad genes and may have explanatory power as well. Gays under the first theory would be more creative and have any easier time ascending to places of power not based on brute force but other competitive social skills that we know women excel at. There is a Dawkins Youtube video explaining the two theories.
