So, it looks like despite being a potential PA type, something else is mediating pro-social, affiliative behaviors in baboons in a significant way. My guess, it's a gene associated with kinship altruism that is as important as PA--but usually masked by the typical level of aggressive behavior shown in the typical baboon troop.
