I disagree with the notion that autistic individuals are less empathic. I think the percieved emotionless behavior stems from emotional input being hit by the same hypersensitivity that tends to hit other senses. If the input is too heavy, it's harder to learn to pick up the subtle emotional signs at an early age, and percieved emotional numbness is the outcome.
That is, my opinion, of course.
