I think the paper you cited mentioned that the HLA locus was the largest known gene?? Maybe it's too complicated to tackle right now.
Our clinical observations about submissiveness trait, either A-or A= and autoimmunity, though, is suggestive that there is a connection.
As in all grand historical "puzzles", like how the planets relate to each other (heliocentricity) and how life forms relate to each other (evolution), when we know the answers, we will say, why didn't we see this. At least with NPA theory, we've got a shot at seeing the big picture of personality.
