I think it's a great idea! The series could end right now in 2005, on Mont Royal. North and South book III was a huge dissapointment IMHO. Too many unanswered questions from book II, like Bent surviving that barn explosion and murdering Orry. Anyhow, the Main/Hazzard family could survive on Mont Royal to this day, and the written andn oral records about Orry, George, Maddlyn and the rest could be refered to. IT could be one of things "you hear about generations gone by". John Jakes is capable of so much better than book III. This has been my idea for a long time. Maybe Jakes will consider it?
