That scene was a built set. It's cool that you get to live in the middle of it all.
: Hello everyone, I was looking for N&S
: DVDs on Ebay and figured I'd google
: it to see if there are any N&S sites
: out there. WOW! This is great. My
: favorite movies of all time are North
: and South and Top Gun, LOL. I live
: in Charleston and my grandmother
: visited the set often when they were
: filming and told me all about it when
: she would come home (how David
: Carradine was one of the nicest
: people she met and how Leslie Ann
: Down was nice too but smoked like a
: smokestack the second the cameras
: stopped rolling). The movie has
: fascinated me. I actually watched a
: copy of it recorded in the 80s when
: it originally ran on network TV with
: all the local commercials and all. I
: even think of N&S when I see those
: companies that had commercials there
: to this day, LOL. As a matter of
: fact, one of the commercials was the
: "BTL" commercial with Jason
: Alexander in it. I also had the
: pleasure about 10 years ago of
: assisting a college professor of mine
: (it was a broadcasting class) as we
: filmed the video of Boone Hall
: Plantation that was to be sold at
: their little gift desk in the main
: house. Since we were working for the
: old lady who owns the house and were
: filming for several days, we were
: able to hear about how her husband
: bought the place for her as a
: surprise (some surprise). Finally, I
: was riding near Beaufort about a
: month ago and saw a sign that said
: "church ruins" down a main
: road into Beaufort and I decided to
: ride by and see what that was, and it
: HAD to have been the ruins that Orry
: and Madeline met at to make out and
: where they were to meet to run off
: together in the movie. It looked
: EXACTLY like I was on the set. It
: almost seemed like they would come
: riding out of the woods on horses at
: any minute. Do any of you know where
: that scene was filmed? I am almost
: 100% certain that had to be the
: location, but I would love to hear
: for sure if that is the case. I am
: so glad I found this site. The
: internet is awesome.
