Hi, Amy, I just came back here after more than 2 years and see someone was just here yesterday, great! Hope to see you again! I agree with you.
About the books, I do not like the books as well as the mini. When the show was on, I bought the books, and seeing them very different from the show, stopped reading them because they 'ruined' it for me. I like the mini better, the only thing in the mini I can't stand is the part where Sheridan was helping the refugees. He was a horrible man who did not care about anyone and would not have done that. He was one of the main ones responsible for the genocide of the Native Americans. So I ignore that part, and the whole "Rafe" episode too. But mostly I ignore book III because it's terrible, depressing and ruins the other 2, besides the major inconsistencies with Books I and II on TV. Even if they did want to go more with the books and add Cooper, etc. it was too late after having I and II go a different way. It look stupid. Book III rot in hell!

: I agree. I hate Book III and the whole
: thing makes no sense and goes
: against the established story. I
: ignore it!
:
: What about Stanley? When last seen,
: he was headed for jail, now he has a
: high ranking job in Washington?
: What?
:
: And Charles, why ditch his kid in
: Chicago when he had loving family in
: Charleston who didn't want to give
: him up?
:
: And speaking of kids, what's up with
: George and Constance's Hope suddenly
: a teenager, and where did that boy
: come from? And the house was not
: Leighigh station. Oh and where did
: Cooper Main suddenly come from? Book
: III must be denounced by all fans!

: None of us seems to like Book III,
: and
: I am no exception. It was well
: below John Jake's ability and the
: plot really makes no sense. Ashton,
: after being expelled from the Main
: family by Orry and divorced by
: James, should have taken up with
: another man, then dumped by him, a
: long way from Mont Royal. After
: many years of no contact with her
: family and wandering from man to
: man, she should have wandered back
: to rebuilt Mont Royal in, say, 1873
: or something, with profuse apologies
: to the family and to the Hazzards.
: Remembering how she would scheme and
: scam, Orry as head of the family on
: Mont Royal accepts her apologies,
: but keeps a close watch on her, as
: would Brett where Billy was
: concerned. After a few years of
: good progress, she relapses to the
: old Ashton and takes up with another
: evil man like Bent. Orry
: immediately expells her from Mont
: Royal, her new beau soon leaves her
: and she just wanders from man to man
: till she dies of a bitter, broken
: heart at, say 57 in about 1891.
: Thanks to that abortion Maddlyn
: helped her get, she would never bear
: a child. She'd get buried in the
: Mont Royal family cemetary.
