It's been years since I've read the books. I seem to remember in Heaven and Hell (the book) that Madeline wrote a series of letters to Orry and stored them in the attic or put them away someplace. Just her thoughts, of how she was doing without him and how she'd always love him. She loved George but wasn't in love with him, but they were going to be married anyway. I think by that time -- she was middle-aged -- she settled for strong friendship and not romantic love. I'm glad they wound up together.

: I so I haven't read Book III yet,
: but I like the fact that George and
: Madeline end up together in the end
: of the movie. It really makes the
: whole family relationship come full
: circle. It makes sense to me that
: they would fall in love, however
: fast it was.

: I didn't like it,personnally.Neither
