I've been thinking that myself for a long time, but John Jakes went far beneath himself in Book III. Yeah, there could be generations of Mains and Hazzards, and this generation of Mains, for example, could talk about "great great great grampa Orry", and all the trials and tribulations right there on Mont Royal, and Orry VII could argue with George Hazzard VII the way the original George and Orry would, but stay dear friends. I dont know about John Jakes. I'm sure he thought of it, but it was his decision.
: A good idea for another North and
: South miniseries would be entitled
: North and South the next generation.
: This would be about the mid 20th
: century descendants of the Mains and
: the Hazzards. This crop deals with
: World War II, the Cold War, Civil
: Rights movement, McCarthyism, on
: into the 1960s it dwells into Civil
: Rights, rock n roll, the Beatle
: invasion, Soul music, Campus riots,
: The Vietnam War would be the primary
: divisive issue with the Mains in
: support and the Hassards opposed.
: The soundtrack would feature various
: rock and pop hits of the 60s. There
: would also be Woodstock and
: Watergate.
